Network & Security Specialist
The Network & Security Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining secure network infrastructure across the organization. The role focuses on protecting enterprise networks, managing firewalls and security appliances, and ensuring high availability of network services. The specialist will utilize technologies from Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, and F5 to safeguard systems against cyber threats while optimizing network performance.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in network administration and cybersecurity, with strong hands-on expertise in enterprise firewalls and network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Management
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless).
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network devices such as routers, switches, and load balancers.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of the network environment.
- Monitor network performance and implement improvements.
Network Security
- Deploy and manage firewalls, IPS/IDS, and security gateways.
- Implement network segmentation, secure access policies, and threat prevention solutions.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and recommend security improvements.
- Monitor security alerts and respond to potential cyber incidents.
Security Solutions Administration
- Configure and manage security appliances including:
- Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.
- Palo Alto firewalls.
- Cisco security and networking devices
- F5 load balancers and application security solutions
- • Maintain VPN solutions and secure remote connectivity.
Monitoring & Incident Response
- Monitor network and security events using SIEM and security monitoring tools.
- Investigate security incidents and perform root cause analysis.
- Coordinate with IT teams to resolve network and cybersecurity issues.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure network and security systems comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain documentation of network architecture, configurations, and procedures.
- Participate in security audits and risk assessments.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with emerging cybersecurity threats and network technologies.
- Recommend new tools and improvements to enhance security posture.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal IT teams.
Technical Skills
- Firewall management and security policy configuration.
- Network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF).
- VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN).
- Intrusion detection and prevention systems.
- Load balancing and application delivery controllers.
- Network monitoring tools and SIEM platforms.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, macOS, Microsoft 365, Azure AD/Microsoft Entra, and endpoint management concepts.
- Practical network troubleshooting skills (LAN/Wi Fi/VPN fundamentals, DHCP/DNS basics, 802.1X awareness, VLANs at the edge).
- Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, ManageEngine).
- Familiarity with remote support tools (Quick Assist, Teams, Bomgar, AnyDesk, etc.).
Soft Skills Required:
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure during security incidents.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Team collaboration and problem-solving mindset.
Education & Certifications (Preferred):
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Cybersecurity.
- Fortinet NSE Certification.
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE).
- Cisco CCNA / CCNP Security.
- F5 Certified Administrator (F5-CA).
