FWaaS Azure Cloud Architecture
FWaaS (Firewall-as-a-Service) Architecture is a firewall security solution powered by Fortinet NGFW, designed to perform security inspection and protect against cybersecurity threats. This solution offers a highly scalable and robust deployment, hosted on Azure Cloud.
Customer on-premises data center (DC) routers or VPN devices will establish eBGP peering with Azure-hosted FortiGate firewalls, which will learn the relevant IP subnet blocks. All internet-bound traffic from the customer’s on-prem DC originating from these IP subnets will be inspected by the FortiGate firewalls before being forwarded to their respective internet destinations. This architecture helps detect and prevent cyber threats effectively.
Additionally, VM-based FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer will be deployed on Azure Cloud for centralized configuration management and security log analytics. FortiAuthenticator will be used centrally for AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting), managing identity and access across the entire solution.
