ClassPulse – Agentic AI for Student Success on AWS
An agentic and generative AI platform that helps schools, universities and other education institutions spot disengagement early, act on it consistently, and keep staff in control of every decision.
Customer Challenges
Schools and universities need to notice when a student starts to pull away, but the signals are scattered. Attendance sits in the Student Information System, explanations arrive by email, and policies live in documents. Teachers, advisors and administrators piece it together by hand.
Manual review does not scale as student numbers grow. Warning signs are found late, and similar cases are often handled differently by different staff.
Student data is sensitive. Any AI used in student support has to be secure, auditable, kept in-country, and must never replace human judgment on decisions that affect a student.
Our Solution
ClassPulse is Alpha Data’s agentic AI solution for student success, built on AWS serverless services and Amazon Bedrock. It watches attendance events as they happen, scores each student’s risk, and reaches out when engagement drops.
When a student explains an absence, Amazon Nova Pro on Amazon Bedrock reads the explanation against the institution’s own attendance policy. ClassPulse then recommends the next step, drafts the case summary and messages, and routes anything sensitive or high-risk to an authorized staff member for approval.
The platform runs in the AWS UAE Region (me-central-1), so student data and AI processing stay in the country. Alpha Data designs, deploys and supports it end to end.
How it works
Sense
Attendance events arrive from the Student Information System through a secure API.
Assess
The Attendance Analysis Agent scores each case LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH risk using configurable thresholds.
Engage
The Notification Agent contacts the student, or their parent or guardian, by email or SMS with a secure, single-use link to explain the absence.
Reason
The Explanation Analysis Agent uses Amazon Nova Pro, with Amazon Bedrock Guardrails, to classify the explanation against the institution’s policy.
Decide
The Decision Agent recommends an outcome. High-risk, sensitive or adverse cases always go to a teacher, advisor or administrator for approval.
 Audit
Every event, recommendation and staff decision is logged for review and continuous improvement.
Solution Architecture
ClassPulse is a serverless, event-driven architecture. Attendance events enter through Amazon API Gateway and are buffered in Amazon SQS. AWS Step Functions then orchestrates four specialized agents running on AWS Lambda.
Only the Explanation Analysis Agent calls the foundation model, Amazon Nova Pro on Amazon Bedrock, invoked in-Region with Amazon Bedrock Guardrails on every request. Case data lives in Amazon DynamoDB and policy documents in Amazon S3. Authorized staff review escalated cases in a secure dashboard, and the workflow waits for their decision.

Customer Benefits
Earlier intervention
Risk patterns are flagged as attendance is recorded, not weeks later.
Less manual effort
Routine monitoring, outreach and case preparation are automated, so staff focus on students.
Consistent decisions
Every case is assessed against the same institutional policy, with the reasoning recorded.
Staff stay in control
AI prepares the case; people make the decisions that matter.
Scales with the institution
Serverless services grow with student numbers without extra infrastructure to manage.
Built for compliance
In-country processing, encryption and a full audit trail support institutional data protection requirements.
Use Cases
Attendance risk monitoring
Continuous LOW / MEDIUM / HIGH risk scoring across classes, grades, courses and cohorts.
Absence explanation triage
AI reads student explanations and checks them against policy before a staff member sees them.
Case management
Structured case summaries, suggested interventions and one-click approval for teachers, advisors and counselors.
Student outreach
Timely, personalized email and SMS messages to students or parents, drafted by AI and sent on approval.
